Naturally I couldn’t board my tour until my stomach was full of custard so I sat outside the cafe and smashed through my large cuboid pastry in next to no time. Resembling many larger slices I’ve sampled before it (Sorrento’s Vanilla slice cafe, Flinders vanilla slice, Mount Martha to name a few) I was encouraged by the heavy slab of whipped cream vanilla custard served up. The filling was indeed delicious and due it it’s uncompromising proportions cutlery was the only option of consumption. Thankfully the pastry sheets were up to the task, and broke effortlessly, breaking into bite sized pieces of golden brown.
All up this was a very good slice, but I question the price. Perhaps this sort of slice could be sold for $7 maximum to really have the size/price advantage over it’s competitors.
