In one word: Pint-sized
A sneaky Friday night slice, and a half sized offering at a very reasonable $2 was enticing. I selected a fondant iced piece instead of the poorly dusted alternative. For years I have resisted the urge to buy a vanilla slice from a chain bakery in my pursuit of perfection, but this took the edge off for sure. The item itself was OK, very average bakery pastry with a hint of sogginess to the underside, and a rather nicely textured but not flavourless custard filling. The icing was actually pretty good and added a nice sweetness to the slice, and was a good thickness in relation to the overall proportions.
