In one word: Mis-sold
This slice is advertised as "Custard Mille-feuile" but I question whether its filling is actually custard or cream. Firstly the thing is huge, and at $5.90 the price seems fair given its size. The presentation is very appealing with a tri-layer offering and nicely presented rippled fondant icing. Cutting and eating the slice was enjoyable and the crunch of the pastry with a knife was a good sign, however the initial tasting of the "custard" left me questioning whether it was just very bland, airy custard or in fact unsweetened whipped cream. This is like-for-like the same presentation and proportions as the French Vanilla slice at the French Baguette in Footscray, but at $4 and far superior flavours the French Baguette will always win.
