Mistake no.1 was getting a vanilla slice from a cafe on a Sunday. Mistake no.2 was paying $5 for it. Aside from Gustos in Strathmore, my neighbourhood is seriously lacking in fine, fresh, daily baked slices. This thing was pretty poor and I only ate it because it cost a fortune. Unable to cut the damn thing, I just had to pick it up and break down the rubbery layers of cardboard and stale custard. Even the poor icing had little to offer in the equation. If this was fresh it would be passable, but at a day or two old it really shouldn't be selling for $5. Shame on you Matte Black.
