Pastry: Well baked but signs of sogginess creeping in 6/10
Presentation: Slab like, heavily iced with passionfruit butter icing 7.5/10
Value for money: $5.80 Large portion, moderately fresh 8/10
Overall score: 7.7/10
After the $5.80 purchase I sat and ate the slice on its paper plate with a wooden fork. The custard and sweet butter icing were a dream to cut through but the pastry proved stubborn, indicating it had not been baked freshly this morning. Nonetheless, the slice was a lot better than expected; creamy, sweet with definite vanilla flavour and thankfully the thick layer of passionfruit icing was a lot more firm than I guessed. I’m certainly not a fan of soft butter icing on a snot block. The pastry itself tasted good, with well flaked sheets, though not crispy fresh as previously mentioned. Overall good value for money with some decent ingredients and it certainly satisfied my sweet tooth for a few hours.
