In one word: Buttery
Rolling Pin are well known for their pies and are award winners in this area. I didn't sample a pie, but I did devour a $3.50 vanilla slice. It wasn't a bad little slice, a finger of buttery, squidgy custard, nestled between some pretty average but firm pastry. The icing on top was soft and sticky when consumed free style. I would have to say that the slice is in keeping with traditional Aussie bakeries, but the custard was more pudding mix than homemade eggy custard.
