I took the gamble to pop inside and felt the urge to press on with the purchase, regardless of my first visual impressions of the vanilla slice. Selling at just under $4 it was immediately evident from the first bite that this thing was of poor quality. The heavy duty wooden layers of flavourless pastry made eating the slice tricky. The overthickened generic custard mix and the hefty portion of thick white icing might have been enough to put some off vanilla slices all together. After a few bites with no salvation, I gave up and found the nearest bin. Next...
