In one word: Synthetic
Pink icing made this one stand out for me against his slightly creamier, dusted cousin in the glass display cabinet. The pink turned out to be raspberry - but not real raspberry. It tasted like the sweetest, synthetic raspberry flavouring available, perfect for blending in a milkshake but not topping a vanilla slice. The custard too was slightly 'set' in its texture but made for an almost faultless easy eat. The pastry was not bad overall, but given the wobbly custard and raspberry icing the vanilla slice was not memorable for the right reasons.
