The reputation of Bourkie's Bakehouse led me to drive my brand new car 70 minutes up the Calder FWY. I went, enjoyed, took away more and have been back numerous times for further enjoyment. Their slices are different to a lot of others. Their 50/50 custard/cream combo is so smooth and sweet in comparison to most others. Their choice of fondant icing is also good. Passionfruit is subtle, strawberry is a bit too sweet for me and the vanilla is quite delicious.
My favourite though is their Raspberry Fusion slice that won the Innovation award at the Merbein Vanilla Slice Challenge a few years back. The raspberry mousse element to the slice is incredible sweet and amazing. I've yet to sample their mocha slice - delicious I'm sure.
