In one word: Tired
Officially on the bucket list, no longer! Based on appearance this one doesn't compare with some of the recent successes of Aviv and the Peninsula Pantry, with a slightly tired look. Notably, the proportions of custard to pastry are questionable, but to their credit the millimeter thin fondant was just perfect. Texture-wise the pastry was pretty good; flaky, crumbly and golden in colour. The custard had a rich vanilla flavour but its consistency was slightly "yesterday". Better than a lot of others, but by no means the best.
