Pastry: Thick and fairly soft layers 5/10
Presentation: No frills, effort to ice at least 5.5/10
Value for money: $5- Medium portion, a worthy pit stop 7/10
Overall score: 5.9/10
After ordering a coffee and a vanilla slice I sat outside and sampled the vanilla slice. Mrs B feasted on a somewhat lacklustre curried chicken pie, but she was so hungry anything would have done. The vanilla slice promised a sweet passionfruit flavour with the hint of a seed buried in the fondant, however subtle would even be too strong in it’s description. Overall the slice was not awful but also not great. It’s custard filling was smooth and sweet, but was otherwise average, and the pastry starting to soften with moisture, though not soggy. I opted to eat this one with my fingers, and ended up with sticky fondant fingers, which made the experience worth the stop.
