In one word: Tasteless
I was initially seduced by the slab-sized portion of golden pastry and eggy yellow custard in the chiller cabinet. At $4.50 the going seemed good, but when I finally sampled the slice I was left slightly disappointed by the tasteless custard. The pastry was pretty good; just on the correct side of burnt, but full of buttery flavour. But the custard was slightly over set, with a healthy dose of cornfour clearly added instead of any vanilla flavouring. Even when sampled on its own, it was hard to distinguish any real flavour of egg or creaminess, more a powdered custard flavour if any.
