Pastry: Averagely baked but serviceable 6.5/10
Presentation: Nothing fancy but effort made to ice the top 6.5/10
Value for money: $4.95 - Large portion, tasty and wholesome 8.5/10
Overall score: 7.4/10
A standard vanilla slice with bright yellow custard and white fluffy icing sat next to a more sophisticated and less neon French vanilla, making my choice for ordering very simple. The French vanilla slice was double stacked and had a decorative fondant on top. The custard looked much creamier and less set than its counterpart, so I was pleased to find it just so and with a sweet and distinct vanilla taste. The pastry, though pale in its colour was rigid enough in its construction to allow for picking up and taking of large bites with little mess. The icing was excellent and although slightly thicker than needed it was a good addition to the ratios of custard and pastry. It also gave me sticky finger prints when I was finished to have to sort out!
