The Parisian Patisserie Boulangerie are quite often my choice for breakfast on the go, selling what can only be described as the most delectable almond croissants. However, this is not an almond croissant blog...therefore I will review their mille-feuille. The presentation is highly thought about with piped cream balls rather than a solid layer of filling. However the crème patisserie did not contain as much vanilla as I'd hoped having seen the black specks running through it. The taste, creamy but not overly sweet and no hint of egg. The pastry was tasty; golden, flaky and as fresh as you could hope for in a patisserie. Unfortunately my palate craved more sweetness with only a vary light dusting of icing sugar and the custard not being overly sweet. The saltiness of the pastry actually came through due to the lack of sufficient topping. If the mille-feuille was as good as the almond croissant, it would be the best vanilla slice in the state!
