In one word: Burnt
This thing was big and heavy in the box and then shortly after in my stomach! At $5 the size and freshness impressed me. At first I thought I was on to a winner, but after thinking the pastry was baked to perfection I was left with an overwhelming after taste of burnt pastry. No doubting that the thin, flaky layers are well considered in a triple layer offering, but a minute or two less in the oven would be good i future. The custard again had some good features; a lovely smooth, eggy colour and texture, but sadly no real vanilla flavour and in truth a little sparse in comparison to the amount of pastry on offer.
